Grades of Condition (I'd advise contacting us for details on posters rated below Very Good):

Exc+ (Excellent+): Unused condition! This poster has little or no signs of handling, although because of the fragility of the paper on most Mexican posters, there may be a few small dings around the edges, and some light separation at the fold lines. The paper may also have browned slightly with age.

Exc (Excellent) : Clean and bright with limited wear. This poster may have been used a few times, but there are no major flaws. It may have some pinholes, light edge wear, and/or some separation at the fold lines. The paper may also have browned slightly with age. Posters in this condition will not be perfect, but the artwork portion will be in very nice shape, and they will display beautifully.

VG+ (Very Good +): Somewhere between VG and Excellent in condition.

VG (Very Good): This is a used poster, but the artwork is generally clean and bright. Upon closer inspection it will certainly show signs of use. The poster will have some (but probably not all) of the following flaws: general wear, smallish tears/dings around the edges, wear/separation along the fold lines, pinholes, small border chips, mild soiling, browning of the paper, creasing/wrinkling, tape stains, water marks, brittleness, small holes, tape on back, light discoloration, extra folds, and minor repairs/restoration. The poster will still display nicely, with no major flaws.

Good+ : Somewhere between Good and VG in condition.

Good : Still presentable, and should look decent if matted and framed, but this a well-used poster with noticeable flaws. The poster will probably have some (but probably not all) of the following flaws: general wear, tears/dings around the edges, wear/separation along the fold lines, many pinholes, border chips, soiling, browning of the paper, creasing/wrinkling, tape stains, fading, water marks, tears within the image area, brittleness, small holes, light bleed-thru from writing on the back, tape on back, discoloration, extra folds, and repairs/restoration.

Fair : Heavy wear and a number of noticeable flaws. The poster will probably have some (but likely not all) of the following flaws: general wear, numerous tears/dings around the edges, extensive wear/separation along the fold lines, lots of pinholes, border chips, soiling, dark browning of the paper, creasing/wrinkling, tape stains, moderate fading, heavy water marks, tears within the image area, serious brittleness, holes, bleed-thru from writing on the back, tape on back, discoloration, extra folds, and repairs/restoration. Needs restoration, but it may do until a better example comes along.

Poor : Major problems and countless flaws. Posters in this condition are in need of major restoration. We do not offer posters in this condition.

We try to mention any flaws that are especially noticeable, within the item description.

Because Mexican posters can sometimes be damaged by simply opening them, we often reinforce parts of the fold lines on the back with acid-free, archival tape (this is NOT visible on the front of the poster.) This can be true of all condition grades. If you wish to know whether a specific poster has had this remedy applied, please contact us.

Mexican onesheets are quite difficult to find in top condition. Linen-backing is a good method of repairing minor flaws and protecting the posters from further damage and deterioration.

Standard Poster sizes offered on SantoStreet.com:

OS (Mexican Onesheet Poster) : This is the standard style Mexican poster. Mexican one-sheet usually measures approximately 27" x 37". (They are slightly smaller than U.S. onesheets). The paper used is often thin and fragile, making it extremely difficult to find these posters in top condition.

WC (Mexican Window Card) : Mexican window cards usually measures approximately 12.5" x 19.5". They are printed on heavier paper stock, usually with a blank strip along top for writing theater information.

JLC (Mexican Lobby Card ... or ... Jumbo Lobby Card) : Mexican 'Jumbo Lobby Cards' (or JLCs) measure approximately 12.5" x 16.5" and are usually printed on heavy paper stock. We call them 'Jumbo Lobby Cards' because they are noticeable larger than standard U.S. lobby cards. JLCs feature colorful artwork, which tends to cover the majority of the card surface. These cards generally have a relatively small 'inset' image, picturing a scene from the film. (These inset scenes were often black & white in the 1950s and 1960s ... and color from the 1970s and later.) The cards often have similar border artwork to the film's one-sheet poster (although due to on the horizontal format of lobby cards, the layout of this artwork is sometimes a bit different). JLCs originally came in sets of 8 cards (or sometimes 16, usually on earlier films). The color artwork is the same on all cards in a Mexican lobby card set -- only the small inset scene is different.

ALC (Azteca Lobby Card) : Azteca lobby cards measure 11"x 14" and are printed on heavy paper stock. These cards have an actual B&W movie still attached on the card -- picturing a scene from the film. These rare lobby cards were printed in the United States -- to be used in Spanish-language theaters. For most Mexican films, they were the only U.S. posters ever produced. They feature completely different artwork from the Mexican lobby cards. Like other US-produced lobby cards, ALCs originally came in sets of 8. The border art is the same on all cards of the set, only the attached B&W photo is different.

HS ... or ... GLC (Half-Sheet ... or ... Giant Lobby Card) : These posters/cards are much larger than usual Mexican lobby cards and actually look far more like a U.S. half-sheet poster than a typical lobby card. A GLC (or HS) measures approximately 16.5"x 24" and it is printed on heavy stock paper. GLCs feature colorful artwork, which tends to cover the majority of the poster surface. These cards generally have a relatively small 'inset' image, picturing a scene from the film. These unusual posters were produced in place of standard Mexican lobby cards for some films in the early 1970s (particularly for the films produced by Rogelio Agrasanchez). Like standard lobby cards, GLCs came in sets of 8. The colorful artwork is the same on all cards of the set, only the small black-and-white inset scene is different.

Arg OS (Argentine Onesheet) : The Argentine one-sheet usually measures approximately 29" x 43". (They are slightly larger than U.S. onesheets). The paper used is of a better quality than that used for Mexican posters.

Belg WC (Belgian Window Card) : Belgian window cards usually measures approximately 14" x 21" -- and they can be printed in either a vertical or horizontal format. They are printed on thin paper stock, with a blank strip on top for writing theater information. The strip at the top is often trimmed or damaged.
